ORIGINAL OIL PAINTINGS
All original oil paintings or prints are sold unframed, and pricing reflects this. The 1 1/2" deep sides are painted solid black for a clean, modern look. Click the ABOUT link, above, to see how this looks. If you prefer a frame, you may add what is called a "floating frame," readily available craft stores or online retailers.
Completed paintings (or paintings that in the process of drying) will be held for you with a non-refundable $100 deposit for 30 days (or until dry, plus 30 days from notification that the painting is ready to be picked up or shipped), unless agreed upon otherwise. Your deposit will be applied toward the final purchase price.
Prices quoted on this web site are for the original artwork only, plus shipping if you're unable to pick the painting up in Huron County, Michigan. The artist retains the rights to any photographs taken of the painting, for prints, or for derivative works/reproductions.
COMMISSIONED PAINTINGS
Commissioned paintings are painted from reference photographs. Provide a copy of a photo you have either personally taken or that you have permission for us to use to create a painting from. To get a price quote, include the size of the painting you'd like to have created, 8" x 10," 11" x 14," 16" x 20" or 18" x 24." Favorite Places Art specializes in rural landscapes, waterscapes, and old or rural buildings. The artist does not paint portraits of people or pets, but may be able to include a silhouette in a landscape painting if you have a good photograph to work from. Click THE ART tab, at the top, for samples of paintings that include animals or people.
Most commissioned original oil paintings range from $1 to $2 per square inch, depending upon complexity -- the smaller the size, the higher the cost per square inch due to increased difficulty in detailing the work. A $100 non-refundable deposit is required before ordering supplies or beginning work.
TIMING
Depending upon the complexity, paintings may take a couple weeks to approximately one month to produce, and when finished, may take few months to become dry enough to handle and/or ship. If you are planning to give an original oil painting as a gift, please factor these times into consideration.
